“Ruidos y Extraños”

(Noises and Strangers)

By Larry Silberman & Perla Szuchmacher

A man moves into a tenement where an elderly couple and another neighbor, a young woman with the makings of a detective, live in harmony. But he brings a piece of luggage that the two ladies find suspicious, which moves them to investigate its contents. Their fear grows as they perceive strange sounds coming from the newcomer’s room, and the idea that they find themselves living opposite a murderer takes on greater strength.
This play addresses the problem of fearing what is unknown to us, and of the kind of prejudice we are apt to form surrounding it.
