IMPACT

As time has passed Grupo 55 has become, along with other very influential Mexican groups, an ineluctable figurehead in the performing arts for children and young adults in this country.

Since its inception years ago in Mexico Grupo 55 has:

Created 15 shows, some of them, with also English and French versions, of which there have been around 3,500 performances seen by more than one million children and 100,000 adults (including parents and teachers) in the Theatre Program for Schools in Mexico DF, open performance seasons, tours and festivals.

Offered more than 4,200 hours of consulting and 7,500 of classes.

Around 2,500 teachers, group coordinators and artists have participated in their training workshops.

More than 500 professionals have benefited from consultancy for their educational or artistic work.

Assessed staging for approximately 80 artistic productions from various states in the republic. Around 750,000 children have watched these shows.

Written texts for two educational books edited by the Secretary of Public Education. (“How to create theatre without being discovered” goes into its 3rd edition with a print run of 86,000 copies, while “Teacher’s Book”, in which Grupo 55 has written a chapter on Theatre, and one on body expression and dance, has reached the hands of more than 730,000 primary school teachers throughout the country.)

More than 700,000 teachers have worked with or consulted the educational books written by the group.

Published 6 drama texts written or adapted by one of the directors of Grupo 55.

From these texts, more than 25 productions have been performed by different artistic groups in Mexico and Spain, likewise more than 12 stagings of other plays have been adapted and introduced to Mexico by Grupo 55.

More than 100 artists have been involved in different activities of the group, including actors, designers and musicians and in addition 20 teachers from 6 different countries.
