"She comes from a family which taught her that being
a girl is not just about playing house. He's from a family which believes
the best thing for a boy to do is to be manly and show it. She says her
mother says that a girl is still a girl even if she likes climbing trees,
and a boy is still a boy even when he feels like crying. He says his dad
says that men don't cry and that a woman is "the queen of the house".
It all happened on the day they both went to a costumes party at the "Misterius"
party hall."
With this play, Grupo 55 argues that all human beings
have the right to develop their capacities, independently of their sex.
It is of great importance to us that, at the end of the
20th century, these subjects be touched upon in an attempt to show the
limitations which western conditioning puts on individual and collective
development.
