I Don´t Want To Play Like That Anymore argues in favor of love, non-violence and the growth of liberty. Through the solitary games of a child, there is revealed the burden of violence, competition and frustration that adults constantly transmit to the young, while they claim to build an atmosphere of love and peace for them.

While not, strictly speaking, a musical, music plays a vital part in the plot’s development with rhythm, variety and meaningful lyrics:

Si el juego es carrera y solo gana el que llega…
Si por comer no me importa que otro quede sin torta…
Si el juego es pelea y solo gana el que pega…
Si estas jugando conmigo y por ganar te lastimo…
Yo así no juego mas.

If playing means racing and only those who run can win…
If in order to eat I mustn´t care whether others starve…
If playing means fighting and only those who hit can win…
If you are playing with me and in order to win I must hurt you…
I don´t want to play like that anymore.

The play opened in 1998 and had a very successful tour through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Mexico, lasting from April of 1998, to July, 1999. It was invited to the VI Sinaloa Cultural Festival of 1992 in Mexico, and to Cuba’s Habana International Festival in 1993. It was selected in Mexico’s Segunda Convocatoria Nacional de Teatro (IMSS, CNCA, INBA, DDF, ISSSTE) of 1994. In 1995, the script of “Yo asi no juego mas” was published by the CNCA’s editorial as a part of a collection entitled “El mejor teatro para niños.” Its lead actor also received the Theatre Critic’s Association’s award for “Best Monologue Actor” in the same year.
